Over the years, I’ve discovered that combining mind, body, and spirit through holistic psychology practices offers a powerful path to emotional well-being. Today, I want to share some practical energy psychology techniques that have helped me and many others find balance and peace.


What Are Holistic Psychology Practices?


Holistic psychology practices look beyond just the mind. They consider the whole person - emotions, physical sensations, energy, and even spiritual aspects. Instead of treating symptoms alone, these approaches aim to restore harmony within your entire being.


For example, you might explore mindfulness to calm your thoughts, gentle movement to release tension, or tapping techniques to shift emotional blocks. The beauty of holistic methods is that they’re adaptable and personal. You get to choose what feels right for you.


If you’re curious about how these methods work, think of your body as an energy system. When energy flows freely, you feel vibrant and balanced. When it’s stuck or blocked, emotional and physical discomfort can arise. That’s where energy psychology techniques come in handy.

Exploring Holistic Psychology Practices for Emotional Balance


One of the most accessible ways to start is by tuning into your breath. Breathwork is a cornerstone of many holistic psychology practices because it connects your mind and body instantly. Try this simple exercise:


  • Sit comfortably with your back straight.

  • Close your eyes and take a slow, deep breath in through your nose for a count of four.

  • Hold for a count of four.

  • Exhale gently through your mouth for a count of six.

  • Repeat for five minutes.


This practice helps regulate your nervous system and brings you back to the present moment. It’s a small daily habit that can make a big difference.


Another effective technique is grounding. When you feel anxious or scattered, grounding helps you reconnect with your body and the here-and-now. You can do this by:


  • Feeling your feet firmly on the floor.

  • Noticing the sensations where your body touches the chair.

  • Observing five things you can see, four you can touch, three you can hear, two you can smell, and one you can taste.


These simple steps anchor your awareness and calm your mind.


Tapping Into Energy Psychology Techniques for Healing


One of my favourite tools to share is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), often called tapping. It’s a gentle method that combines tapping on specific points on your face and body with focused breathing and affirmations. This helps release emotional blockages and reduce stress.

Here’s a quick way to try tapping:


  1. Identify a feeling or issue you want to work on, like anxiety or self-doubt.

  2. Rate the intensity of this feeling on a scale from 0 to 10.

  3. Use your fingertips to tap gently on the side of your hand (the karate chop point) while saying a setup phrase, such as “Even though I feel anxious, I deeply and completely accept myself.”

  4. Tap about 5-7 times on each of these points: top of the head, eyebrow, side of the eye, under the eye, under the nose, chin, collarbone, and under the arm.

  5. Take a deep breath and check your intensity again. Repeat if needed.


This technique is easy to learn and can be done anywhere, anytime you need a quick emotional reset.

How to Incorporate These Practices Into Your Daily Life


Starting new habits can feel daunting, but with holistic psychology practices, you can begin small and build gradually. Here are some tips to help you weave these techniques into your routine:


  • Set a daily intention: Each morning, decide to spend just five minutes on breathwork or tapping.

  • Create a calming space: Dedicate a corner in your home for your practice, with cushions, candles, or anything that feels soothing.

  • Use reminders: Set gentle alarms or notes to prompt you to pause and ground yourself during busy days.

  • Journal your experiences: Writing down how you feel before and after your practice can deepen your awareness and motivation.

  • Be kind to yourself: Healing is a journey, not a race. Celebrate small wins and allow yourself grace on tougher days.


Remember, these practices are tools to support you, not chores to add to your to-do list.
